Reporting to the Vice President Project Development, the Director Project Development will be responsible for developing large projects associated with delivering new services within the framework of PPP’s, Operations Assistance and Operations Consulting which result in new business activities, revenue expansion and customer growth.
During the Bid & Proposal stage of the project, she/he will play a leadership role, up to and including serving as Proposal Manager, to ensure that the approved Capture Plan is successfully implemented and that SUEZ NA’s “Best Value” proposal is responsive, competitive, and favorably received by the client and customers.
He/she will also coordinate the efforts of SUEZ NA’s support functions – Technical Services, Finance & Due Diligence, Legal, Human Resources, and Operations Management during the project development stage. She/he will be responsible for preparing a written Capture Plan for each assigned target opportunity and for preparing a budget for its implementation.
For growth opportunities in new Growth Regions being developed by our Vision 2020 Plan, she/he will be responsible for participating to the development of SUEZ NA’s P3 growth strategy.
She/he will also work closely with the VP Project Development and SVP Corporate Development on any other business opportunities for SUEZ NA, which may include the development, production and presentation of reports to executive management, operations, technical and support teams and external clients.

Nature & Scope-Principal Areas of Responsibilities: Understands utility or industrial services and their competitive strength and is able to articulate the benefits to the stakeholders of target clients. Leads the process that develops, evaluates and recommends service solutions for customers that promote opportunities for utility growth through acquisitions, Public-Private Partnerships, operations & maintenance contracts, and service provision. Identify new leads, nurture relationships, and position the Company to capture new business opportunities. Coordinates or supports the gathering, analysis and interpretation of client specific data for evaluation of present and future opportunities within Company guidelines and long-term corporate objectives. Travel is required to support sales activities, identify and qualify clients, build key stakeholder relationships, and support or lead proposal efforts. May be required to manage or support proposal activities, including management, financial and technical analyses for the evaluation of opportunities, and negotiating and closing new contracts. Education/Equivalent: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or Business related curriculum with Master’s Degree preferred but not mandatory
Work Experience Needed: 10+ year experience with utility or industrial business in operation, engineering, project development, or construction management. 10+ years of demonstrated experience in supporting or leading project development activities for utility or industrial services companies or consulting engineering firms with documented evidence of successfully capturing target projects. Strong knowledge of utility and industrial service issues including regulatory and financing.
